Playing Xvid encoded AVI under Quicktime 7 ?

I like Imageready ability to import videos and create animated GIFs from it. Unfortunatly, it use the Quicktime plugin and it just doesn't want to play any AVI file encoded in Xvid.

mux the xvid stream from avi to mp4 with mp4box/yamb. if your xvid stream is baseline profile (so the quicktime mpeg-4 decoder can decode it) this will work
if it wont work you can also try to install 3ivx (and therefore use the 3ivx mpeg-4 decoder instead of the quicktime one)
if this also doesnt work i dont think you have a chance of getting this to work (reencoding the stream to baseline profile would work but means qualityloss)

baseline profil is MPEG4 SP aka XviD without bframe, Qpel, GMC and CQM ...
