Hello. Earlier Ive just used AutoGK because of simplicity, but in MeGUI I have so many more options. I have compressed lots of avi and mpeg2 files, and now I want to start with DVDs. I have ripped a DVD using DVD decrypter IFO mode.

However, when I tried to open the ifo in meGUI I got an error message. I am sure I just did the wrong thing however. Since I am really not expperienced, could someone just tell me very quick how I can open an .ifo file and make Megui encode and output as avi?

Just the main steps, detailed explanation not needed. I do of course have all codecs etc. installed.

Read the MeGUI Guide, a sticky on this forum. One click encoding should give you the easiest method -- just drag the first VOB (not IFO) file onto MeGUI and select One Click Encoder. You can figure it out from there

Thanks.

I will try that. Sorry about being such a newbie and all. Thank again. But what about if I want only a certain stream of audio and one certain stream of subtitles on the output file? I have ripped the whole DVD, so how do I decide which streams are the right ones?

The One Click Encoder lets you choose which streams you want (but it doesn't support subtitles).

So when dealing with subs, ir would be better to use AUTOGK?

MeGUI DOES support subtitles, but only in the muxing stage (because there is no processing that it can do on it). It is simply the One Click Encoder that is behind right now.
