Possible bug with long encode

While using XviD-1.2.-127-25022006.exe from Koepie's site as a capture codec I've experienced a reproducable crash in VirtualDub (http://forums.virtualdub.org/index.php?act=ST&f=15&t=12284&).
That post should contain all of the relevant info, except I didn't mention that I used the default options for xvid.

Anyone have any ideas besides changing codecs?

I fear there's an internal variable flowing over, may it be the timestamp counter or the file size... I'll hand this over to the core team, let's see if they do know about this issue.

ok, let's proceed with method:

.Can you reproduce the bug *exactly* twice? I know it's difficult
with live-feed, but... This would rule out potential hardware
failure or disk-full or the like...
. Can you reproduce the bug with shorter input?
. Is it also crashing with other versions of VDub? (any other version,
so we can't suspect VDub)
. Can you reproduce the bug with command-line only (+Avisynth input) ?
. Using a XviD lib compiled in Debug mode would definitely help tracing
. Most important, in case it's really an overflow: are you using constant
bitrate or constant-Quant rate-control?

So far VitualDub crashes at about the same time, but not exactly the same time. It's happened every time I didn't stop the capture before the 9 hour mark.

The capture is 640x480 greyscale, but I didn't set any special preferences in xvid or vdub for greyscale mode (I'm not even sure there are any in vdub). The settings are given by the "load defaults" button, 1 pass CBR

I havn't tried any other versions of xvid or vdub, but if you make some suggestions for the versions that you would like me to use to assist, just post some links or tell me where to get them (debug versions).
