I seem to recall an x264 poll.. since many contenders there also support other mpeg-4 flavors, wouldn't it be reasonable to conclude that this poll would come out looking about the same - especially since around these parts x264 is the flavor of the day?

I do all my encoding so that I can watch it on my DivX DVD Player, so avi.NET with DivX 6 is my choice. But, Dr. DivX is getting better, and I think by the end of the year that will be my favorite.

I chose RealAnime too because it allows direct input for files and is easy to use and doesn't force me to configure all this bs that MeGUI does. But what I would like to see from Sirber is an encoding application for Xvid and x264 only with mp4/avi/mkv output and with a better name. Such as xEncoder or something like that, because I don't want a program named anime on my computer.

You were here sprouting about how top shit nerodigital was, and how it kicks x264 ass. Now ffs you don't even have nero in your list of recommend codecs, yet you state that you still use it.:confused:

A. I don't recall someone walking up-to me with a gun after starting megui and forcing me to do shit.

B. While I have never used realanime, I belive that it works by selecting profiles. If you would take the time to learn things instead of raising your post count with nonsence, you would realise that megui also has the option to use profiles. And that those profiles actually come from the same guy that compiles the x264 binaries at the top of the AVC section.:mad:

He didn't. He changed it to ATEME, Nero digital uses their tech so basically it's same thing. Afcourse ATEME encoder has high profile that current implementation of Nero Digital lacks but it's nitpicking.

I use mainly MeGUI because of x264. ;)

Althought I use Gordian Knot to do the AviSynth script(I edit it if I have to use TDeint or TIVTC), and VirtualDubMod if I have to encode with XviD v1.2.

I've done a fair bit on the MeGUI AviSynth Script Creator, so I'm quite surprised that you go back to Gordian Knot for the script generation when you need to deinterlace.... especially considering Gordian Knot's more limited deinterlacer set than MeGUI's. Could you say why you prefer the GK script creator to the MeGUI one?

I think you misunderstood me. I go back to Gordian Knot's Bitrate calc and Resolution chooser for the script generation because I use GD's interface since I've first used XviD, that's all. ;)

So MeGUI AVS Creator may be better, I just have to try it someday...

Concerning deinterlacing, I know that GordianKnot's deinterlacers are limited, so if I have to deinterlace, I use Tritical's Avisynth Filters and to do so I replace "decomb.dll" by "TITC.dll"(or "TDeint.dll") and "FieldDeinterlace()" by "TDeint()"(or something else for TIVTC, it depends of the source).

My vote goes for MeGUI. It is an all in one package for me (just my opinion). Btw, MeGUI only uses Tritical's Filters, this is because I have used it a couple of times and realised that it uses those filters and not other filters..... can someone clarify ?

You have a choice in MeGUI: you can use tritical's filters, or decomb's, or tomsmocomp or leakkerneldeint.....

Robot4Rip to rip, index, demux audio and write the avisynth script (including PAL -> 24fps slowdown and audio resampling). VobSub cutter if I need to retime subs to 24fps. Sometimes MeGUI to analyze the d2v file if it needs deinterlacing. MeGUI to run the encoder queue. Usually mkvmerge GUI for final mux.

None of the poll options really seem to fit.

I use Gordian Knot till the AVS script .... Its a lot easier.. n then load the AVS Script into MeGUI and ther you go.. :D

It resizes and then abt deinterlacing it lacks a bit .. while MeGUI AVS Script generator is a bit fussy .. U have to do everything in a commandline way .. GK is better for that

I use VirtualDubMod since it gives me a preview of the video that I can seek through and use to see to cut out commercial breaks, lets me watch the status while it's encoding, and isn't a 'wizard'-type app and thus doesn't try and auto configure things for me.

Things I wish VirtualDubMod had though: Internal encoding of ogg without producing corrupt ogm file, .mp4 support, and support for encoding profiles.

The only other thing I don't like about Vdubmod is that it's starting to get a little on in age and I don't think it's going to be supported anymore.

If anybody knows of an app that can do all of that and the things vdubmod can't let me know please :)
