View Full Version : "error collecting header extensions" bug, what about it?

The only thread where I found it discussed is here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=104520&highlight=header+extensions

but no solution was brought up until then, as it seems.

I'm encountering this problem with only one DVD.

Is there a possible work around or will this problem be adressed in future release?

The error referenced in the link was fixed quite a while ago. Specifically what error are you getting?

"DVD Rebuilder experienced an error collecting header extension. [15:38] 00068 00005"

in my case, it only comes up with the dvd of Rosemary's baby.

Is it the NTSC version? If so I'll buy it and test it.

Don't know if it makes a difference ?

i would send you the critical part, but i doubt this would be legal

1. Do you have Close Captioning enabled? If so, disable it and see if you still get the error.

2. What version of DVD Rebuilder are you using? This fix was included in v1.09.3:

- Corrected an error in CC processing that could cause an
error "0068 0005" when a new GOP with CC data starts at
at the very end of a video packet.

The error occurs with this dvd independently of CC settings (I tried both cases of course)

I know about the fix but I'm afraid it didn't address the issue with this dvd.
Seems to be a very rare problem though if nobody else has reported it with this or another dvd.

I will try the whole thing with the big 3 and see if it works with them.

Hmm... it has to be the same cause. Have you tried it without CC?

Of course, as stated in the first line of my previous post, I tried with and without CC, and the error occurs in any case, not even a second after starting the PREPARE step...

jdobbs, please let me know if I can do anything - I would be glad to help you in fixing this error...

I've been getting this error on the new versions with some preprocessed source (VobBlanker). It was TransAmerica R1 ripped with AnyDVD v5.9.5.8. I cleaned out the unreferenced material in VTS 1.

Just an FYI (because of the preprocessing). I reverted to 1.09.3 and had no problems...

I also got this error with Underworld : Evolution NTSC. But I used RipIt4Me v1.1.0.0 when I got this error. When I used PGCEdit rip method everything came out ok. I havnt tested it again on this movie since RipIt4Me v1.2.0.0 came out so that may be fixed. It works fine for everything else.

@JFerguson
Update your AnyDVD. A lot has been changed so it could have done something (after reading somnus post).

Just an FYI (because of the preprocessing). I reverted to 1.09.3 and had no problems...Was it also the error 00005 you received? The error type is the last number on the line:

"DVD Rebuilder experienced an error collecting header extension. [15:38] 00068 00005"

You're saying it went away when you ran the same material using v1.09.3? The reason I as is because that module didn't change between v1.09.3 and v1.10.2.

I don't think it was an 00005. I made several screen shots, it looks like it was an 00006 one time, then on another an 00061, 00380.

It processed it with 1.09.3, but the Time Map Table (?) got clobbered... couldn't fast forward through some material.

I went back and did the ISO against 1.10.2 and it was fine. Sometimes I'll preprocess because of the unreferenced material -- I sometimes miss blanking this with a mounted ISO. If this type of material could be called out or flagged in the editor, that would be cool, because it would alert one to additional bitrate that could be recaptured. I would ask the same for angles too -- that's another place where additional bitrate is sometimes missed.

Thanks...

I remember having problems a few years ago when I was trying to do a DVD backup of Rosemary's Baby (PAL) and always having Rebuilder fail on me with this error. I am now doing iPod versions of all of my movies and ran into the same problem again with DVD Rebuilder failing instantly with exactly this error message.
The solution, at least to Rosemary's Baby, is as follows: import the film into DVD Remake Pro and you will see a green screen in the preview window. This green stuff is the junk that is causing DVD Rebuilder to fail. Press once on the right arrow on the timeline slider to go onto the next frame, which is a second of black before the Paramount logo comes up, then right click in the preview window and select "Cut to here". Export the film and it now reads perfectly in DVD Rebuilder. Woohoo! I now have Rosemary's Baby for my iPod!

You probably will never read this after all this time, but your solution did it for me. The first frame also has to be removed after the cutting. Thanks a lot friend!
