I'm trying to encode a .m2v file to h.264 using the x264 codec in ffmpegx. The file is demuxed from a .vob and is in a letterbox format, but when I encode it, it gets 'squashed' to a square image. The info that ffmpegx gives for the file says it's 720 x 576, but it still squashes it when I tell it to encode to that size.
Why is ffmpegx squashing the files and what can i do to maintain the original screen shape?
