I have a bunch of small clips that I'd like to merge together into 1 video.

I use the append avi segment option. When I play it, the audio tends to play faster every video-clip that goes by. Next thing you know, the audio is WAY off halfway through.

How do I go about fixing this? Or correctly merging them?

Thanks.

Hi!

Load the merged file into VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod, or NanDub.
Set BOTH "Video"(VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod and NanDub) and "Audio"
(VirtualDub and NanDub - VirtualDubMOD>"Streams>"Stream list") to "Direct Stream Copy".

A) If the difference between audio and video is constant throughout the

video:

From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Interleaving" (For

VirtualDubMOD, rightclick on the listed audiostream and then select

"Interleaving")
Under "Audio skew correction", set an appropriate number of

milliseconds (positive or negative) in the box labelled "Delay audio track

by"
Save with a new filename

B) If the difference increases as the movie plays:

From under the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Framerate" - and

select "Change so video and audio durations match"
Save with a new filename

Let us know of your success ;>}

Hmm, I'm just wondering, would there be a way to merge them without changing the framerate? Or would I require to use some professional video editing software to do that?

I see a lot of people putting clips together and having a regular framerate (29.97, etc.) the whole way through. The audio is also in sync with the video.

edit: I was also thinking about this when I wanted to merge the vob files off my dvd. I wanted to make it 1 big stream, out of all those 1gb vobs. But then I'd have to change the framerate in order to fit it with the audio stream.

I'm just wondering, would there be a way to merge them without changing the framerate? This problem doesn't usually arise when RE-combining .AVIs that were originally one large file that was split...

Ah, I see.

So if I used a video camera several times, Created several clips using the same framerates and everything, would there be problems then?

Thanks.

would there be problems then?Quite possibly, since despite using the same settings, it's not initially one continuous video...

you can use a little trick....

after checking "Change so video and audio durations match",
in 'convert to fps' write the original fps.

this can be used in direct copy too.

could be useful to append again clips whose fps havent be changed.
