Lo there,
any idea if there's a 64 bit MT XviD binary?

I think Squid80 made one awhile back.

Not with the multithreading code.

Not with the multithreading code.
But maybe you could do one if it's not to complex?

Buy me a dual core and I'll think about it.

Build one and I'll test it ;P
Did you do any changes to the sourcecode or did you just select a 64 bit output in VS?!

It was made before Visual Studio even had a 64-bit platform target. :p
I converted a lot of the assembly code to 64-bit and made it compatible with the windows x64 Application Binary Interface (ABI).

Sounds like it was a lot of work ;(

http://ffdshow.faireal.net/mirror/XviD/XviD64-setup.exe
http://esby.free.fr/CelticDruid/mirror/XviD/XviD64-setup.exe
Seems to be working ok here. Installs 32bit and 64bit versions.
I've got a spare 3500+. But no spare X2's.
That looks sweet Celtic Druid! Thanks man!

This is the MT version?!!????!??
Is the build multithreaded and 64 bit compatible?

As I said, the installer contains two builds; 32bit and 64bit. Think next build I will add a component section, so you can select/deselect the 32bit build.
Both are multithreaded, or at least should be. In my limited testing, multithreading in the 64bit build seemed to be working.
The installer won't run under 32bit windows.

How can I see that it has x64 optimization and will give me some gain in WinXP PRO x64 comparing to WinXP SP2 PRO.

Encode the same source with the same settings in XP SP and x64 using VDub, then compare the encoding times. Could also try 32bit vs. 64bit under x64.

Here http://esby.free.fr/CelticDruid/mirror/XviD/ is lots of Xvid builds.
XviD64-setup.exe as i understood is latest x64 build.
And which x64 from this list should I take as a latest (not only by date but working, maybe beta but not buggggy).
xvid.cvs.head.2006.04.21.7z 20-Apr-2006 14:03 265K
xvid_encraw.7z 18-Mar-2006 02:20 43K
xvidvfw-MTK.7z 27-Feb-2006 14:15 52K
xvid-1.1.0.7z 01-Jan-2006 17:12 281K
xvid-1.1.0.exe 01-Jan-2006 17:12 325K
xvidcore-dualthread.7z 29-Dec-2005 10:00 194K

xvid.cvs.release-1_1-branch.2005.12.09.7z 09-Dec-2005 17:30 253K

XviD.cvs.head.MTK.exe 24-Sep-2005 16:29 296K
7z packs as I can see - is only .dll file with .inf. There is now installer or something else - so .inf and context menu -> Install is only way?
Is there any difference beatween xvid-1.1.0.7z and xvid-1.1.0.exe?

XviD64-setup.exe is the only x64 build. All files that aren't marked otherwise (which is all of them) are 32bit.
The difference between xvid-1.1.0.7z and xvid-1.1.0.exe is that one has an installer, the other is just the files.

And what build should I use for encoding:
xvid-1.1.0.exe
XviD.1.1.cvs.exe
XviD-1.0.3.exe
XviD.cvs.head.MTK.exe

Under 32bit windows, I would suggest XviD.cvs.head.exe or xvid.cvs.head.2006.04.21.7z. Once again they are the same thing, just with/without installer.

Look's like latest build :)

And why there are some older builds dated with 04-Oct-2005 or 01-Jan-2006? It's makes some people (and me too) confused. What they are for?

If you go to download most software you will find numerous older versions as well as the current one. I see no reason for instance to remove 1.0.3 just because 1.1 is out or to remove 1.1 when there is not even a 1.2 beta yet.
You should see the number of builds that I have backed up locally (mine and others).

And what abt those in the "gcc" folder? which are dated 17-May-2006...
celtic_druid

For those who prefer gcc builds. The code hasn't changed recently, just that the gcc builds were quite old, so I though I should put some upto date ones up.
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=111263 would probably be a more suitable thread for all this non 64bit related discussion.
