View Full Version : When I am trying to put permanently subtitles in virtualdub..
I have a film, and i want to put permanently subtitles on it using the "subtitler" filter in virtualdub.
My question is: Is there is any way to change the position of the subtitles on the movie before i put them together with the movie?
Like the option in Bsplayer "Subtitles Offset" (Shift+up/down key).
Thanks A lot.

You have to change the position in the .ssa, namely "PlayResY" value which you can modify and "PlayResX", which you will have to add to the .ssa and then set to whatever you want to.
Open the readme.txt inside subtitler-2_4.zip and look under subheading Positioning.

Or, I believe, you could use DVDSubEdit...

playresx and playresy should match your picture resolution
to adjust the size of the text, change the font size
to adjust the height from the bottom, there are 2 ways to go about it:
1. in the 'style' line, one of the values is for the vertical margin (vmargin), I believe it is located near the end.. the line above should say what each thing is between the commas
2. in each line for the subtitles "0000,0000,0000", you can use replace-all in something like notepad and change it to (for example) "0000,0000,0080", which would make the subtitle text 80 pixels from the bottom
if all the subtitles use the same style (style1) then I would go with option 1. but replace-all is pretty easy too :D
Try to make a ssa using subtitles workshop. With Shift+Alt+L you can adjust your font and position. Try to use Arial Narrow Bold of 22-24 and bottom 32-34. Don't forget 2 pixels for the outline.
