hi!

is there any way to force autoGK to use the original resolution when doing a 2 pass encoding? Or is that not possible?

Thanks

When you click Advanced Options, you should see settings to select the width. Under Hidden Options (Ctrl + F9) you can select from 16:9, 4:3 or Original. If the original file's dimensions are not MOD-16 (a resolution evenly divisible by 16), then you cannot keep the original resolution exactly.

Hmmm,

Have never tried that hidden option( override input aspect/keep original )so I just tested. Does'nt work :(
Workaround:
1/Choose Fixed width in advanced options (usually 720)
2/ Crop or no-crop?
if crop as usual nothing to do or adjust the "tune autocrop params" in hidden options
if nocrop, use treshold=0 in tune autocrop.

Side remarks:
- If fixed width is choosen, AGK will block matrix usage to the sharpmatrix
- as it will not be resized, you will need to look at the comptest result: anything below 50% could be awfull, around 60% may be acceptable and 70% or more will be fine. So you will eventually need to adjust the final size to meet your quality requirements :)

Exemple: part of LOTR3 Vob 300Mo; choosen size for 2 pass 60Mo (no audio)
-Full auto gives me 560x336 ( AR: 1,67 ), 1st pass expected quality 60%
-Original resolution gives me 720*416 (AR 1:73), 1st pass expected quality 50%, 976kbp/s ... acceptable maybe because no high motion scenes on that small part!
If PAR/DAR is not good, maybe force "keep original" or 16:9 needed in tune autocrop; see CWR03 comments on mod-16.
