3ivX 5.0 Prerelease

Reading http://www.doom9.org/codecs-104-1.htm#intro i was very interested with 3ivX 5.0 Prerelease.

Now i'm using 3ivX D4 4.5.1 for realtime video capturing.

Now i'm looking for 3ivX 5.0.

Where can i find it. Can author of this article give me this codec for my personal usage?

It is 2006 now and there was no build publiced (only D4 4.5.1)

And is it imposssible to get this build for my personal use.

Leaking is the same as "pirating"...
You have to wait until it gets released and if it doesnt at all then that's not doom9's problem.

I understood. Then can you advice me video codec for realtime capturing with 720*576 and not more then 5000kbit/s bitrate giving good quality with my AMD Sempron 3000 x64.

xvid with one of sharktooth's high-bitrate matrices (such as uhr or ehr), q2, interlaced if needed, 1 b-frame if desired (with offset 0), motion search 5, and everything else default. It will probably be faster and higher quality than 3ivx, at the same sizes. EHR may be a bit too large, I tend to get 5-10 mbps at q2, so UHR or 6of9 might be a better fit for that size.

Can you give me link to "sharktooth's high-bitrate matrices (such as uhr or ehr)". Where can i find it and read how to add it to Xvid (i'm using XviD 1.1.0-final (http://www.xvid.org/downloads.html)). Where can I read about this metrics - why is better to use these variant? Will it give me better quality with same bitrates (for me is optimal 3000-5000kbit/s).

XviD (and other ASP encoders like 3ivx) can always improved quality with custom matrices, but it's most obvious on the very high and low ends. For a link, see his signature above (info about ASP...). The setting is in the first "more..." button in xvid's configuration, you can load it in when set to mpeg-custom.

And what is the difference beatween

Do you know aprox. bitrates ULTRA-HIGH BITRATE and EXTREMELY HIGH BITRATE - in numbers (for example EXTREMELY HIGH BITRATE - 8000-9000kbit/s, EXTREMELY HIGH BITRATE 5000-8000kbit/s)

Is it better to use these matric than snadart H263 or MPEG in realtime capturing?

I can't tell you the differences, because it's entirely source dependent. Even resolution is only part of compressibility; framerate, smoothness, and motion coherency are also factors. The stuff I work on comes in at anywhere from 2mbit to 12mbit using EHR, I rarely use UHR so I can't say for sure. I also said above "EHR may be a bit too large, I tend to get 5-10 mbps at q2, so UHR or 6of9 might be a better fit for that size."

If it's for further editing, yet you don't want too high a bitrate (i.e. you can't go lossless), then try MJPEG format.
