First thing I noticed is that the bug when seeking (XVID/MKV) was not fixed. Like version 0.8.4, it doesn't render properly after seeking (to non-I frames?).

Little details like that make MPC/ffdshow hard to beat as my preferred general use player.

Still no letterboxing for subtitles :-( Subtitles support is the weakest part of VLC IMHO. Everything else works great for me. I'm staying with ViPlay or MPC and FFDshow.

I agree, subtitles are really weakest part of VLC.
It would be great if they would be spending more time there.

The world is crying for a multiplatform subtitle renderer with the same capabilities as VobSub.

I wonder how much time could take if Gabest would port his VobSub to the VLC architecture. I bet it would take less than a few days, he is really a fast coder and knows all the inside :D
Anyone else than him could take a lot more, probably.

Ya, if VLC had BSPlayer's style of handling subtitles this would be...great. The other thing is rtsp rm files.
Anywho, all in all it's a great software and it's only 0.8.5
