I have a 25 min 1.3 gig file of some fights I filmed over the weekend with a sonyhandycam. I got the file onto my HD and want to split it in to two files (each fight) and burn it to a 700mb cd-r as my friends only have a computer to watch it with. What would be the easiest way to split it in two and compress it?

John--I was about to reply with my favorite solution to this problem, but upon running a quick forum search, I came up with a great thread on Splitting huge MPEG2 files without recompression (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=72549). Don't be confused by the number of solutions offered, they'll all work. The TMPG and Womble products are probably offered as solutions to this task most often here in the Noobs forum. Additionally, you could grab a demo of Procoder 2 and give it a whirl. VideoReDo works on this, too, and is a treat to work with.
If you intend to split a 1.3 GB file to two discs, you'll actually need no compression, just a straight split.
