I'm having real problems with my first time of making my own DVD.

The resulting DVD sometimes prays and sometimes it doesn't.....

The video skips... locks.... frames seem to merge all kids of stuff...

I know to the experienced people here this is not descriptive/helpful but since an new to all this am not sure how else to describe it.

None of these things ever happen in the same place twice in fact there have been a few times (but only a few) that it played everything perfect.

I used Tenpegnc to encode the video 2 pass variable bitrate.... NTSC DVD template maximum bitrate 7000 average 6000 minimum 4000. source was interlaced output interlaced 29.97 fps

I used AC3Machine to encode the sound to AC3 2 ch 256 bitrate.

I used both g-spot and mpeg vcr tools to check for vob compliance all was fine.

I used spruceup to make author the DVD as it seamed the easier to use, and I all I wanted was a background with for links to the four clips I have.

Nero to burn the DVD.

For the most part things play ok but never the full DVD all the way through without some kind of problem occurring.

At first I though I was doing something wrong .... so I backed up a DVD movie I had bought to test with but the same problem happens. I fact it will not even play in my computer DVD prayer. They will only play on my stand alone player(s) or my DVD burner. But only on my burner does it play perfect all the way through all the time.

The blank DVD's are DVD+R brand name it imation bouught from Target store.

The only reason I got a burner was to back up family stuff from VHS weddings/holiday stuff.. I'm not even interested in backing up movives .. but it can't seem to do that correctly either nevermind the family stuff...

Help please what is wrong?

Try burning slower (if 8x discs, try 6x for example). Also try a different brand. Verifiy the writes after burning to check they read back ok.
