Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0

All,

It was suggested to me that i get premiere pro 2.0 to enode with, but my question is does itencode from dvd/dv to any of the mpeg for codecs. Is it possible to do this, and if so how do I go about doing it. And is it worth the money.

You should be able to encode from any format to any format with an assortment of the free utilities available from this site. From that viewpoint, no, Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 is not worth the $849 USD they're asking for it.

The built in media encoder is "good enough"

I wouldn't recommend it as yet for you though since my preferred frameserver (http://www.debugmode.com/frameserver/) doesn't support it yet. As far as Premire Pro 2.0, I think it's superior to Final Cut Pro 5.0 in terms of features, but still sucks as far as overall usability. So if you got the latest in hardware and a fast RAID, go ahead. I've got a huge writeup on it. If you search google you'll probably find it.

[edit] debugmode does work, just have to move it to the right directory
