i've used all 3 versions of DVD-RB, the free version (no install), the free version (install) and the pro version. with the free version (no install) and HC encoder, no filters used, with BEST profile, i haveto say was the closest to original. i took 3 screenshots of different scenes (low bitrate and high bitrate scenes) of the movie "Gladiator" and zoomed in 600x. for the life of me, i cant match the output of the free version (no install), even with the free install version.

i noticed that without setting the HC.ini file, DVD-RB (free no install) uses a VBR Bias of 0, so i thought that could be it. i set the VBR Bias to 0 with DVD-RB (free install) and DVD-RB Pro, and the outputs were still not as good. i also noticed that the free versions of DVD-RB has like 6 arguments passed in the HC Encoder window, while the pro versions has no arguments passed, except the "ini" one.

does DVD-RB free (install) and DVD-RB Pro handle HC encoder differently than DVD-RB (no install)? if so, is there anyway i can set DVD-RB Pro the same way DVD-RB (no install) handles HC Encoder?

The only difference between the two would be the ability to adjust the bias in the Pro version . Other than that the output would be identical (if you set bias to 0 they would be identical) The "Install" or "No Install" is just the inclusion of the installer and all programs -- the DVD-RB version of each is identical.

DVD-RB free (install) and (no install) handle HC the same, they both use comand line to get the info to HC, DVD-RB Pro handle HC encoder different with an ini file.... all 3 should pretty much in up with the same results.
