I can sucessfully decrypte films using DVD Decrypter (Ver 3.5.4.0). When I try to back up the decrypted video in Nero (6.6.1.4) part way through the analysis stage my PC freezes and shuts down.

Can you suggest what the problem might be and how to fix it.

Incidently this also happens if I use DVD Shrink (3.2) or CloneDVD (Ver 2.8.9.8)

Thanks in anticipation.

Please revise your title. The rules say use a descriptive title.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the problem, but Nero 6.6 is an old version of Nero and might have some problems with newer DVD's....possibly...?

Are there any logs generated with Nero, Shrink, etc. What are your basic system specs?

"Shuts down" as in power-down?

Most likely heat related stress. See http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=54130 for assistance.

The programs that you mention are all very likely CPU-intensive, meaning the CPU probably uses about 100% of its resources, while they do their thing. This causes the CPU to get very hot. Try installing an intake fan in front, and an exhaust fan in back. This will bring in cool air from the outside, which will find its way to the CPU. Otherwise the CPU fan just blows hot air over the CPU. Doesn't do cr@p to cool a CPU generating so much heat.

the easiest way to confirm overheating is to take off the sides and run the program again. nero 6.6.1.4 will not work with shrink (must burn manually). log file would help

c/program files/ahead/nero/nerohistory.log

latest burns are at bottom (several in there)

Hi!nero 6.6.1.4 will not work with shrink (must burn manually)While you are absolutely correct about this version's usage automatically from within DVD Shrink, it doesn't cause a system lockup, as stated by "Smiro". It simply generates a "Cannot connect with .TRF" error message and the burn fails...

All things appear to point to overheating for "Smiro"
