I've been using AGK and XviD to back-up movies to CD-R so my kids can watch them with a Philips DVP642. One oddity I haven't nailed yet is that Fast-Forward and Fast-Rewind do not always seem to work. I use the ESS Standalone Player option and aim for a bit-rate below 925kbps (I had googled a suggestion that this was necessary). Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't and I don't know why. I also often try to reduce the bit rate for credits, but haven't been able to say that is the suspect. I always use ABR for MP3 and some AVIs fast-forward/fast-rewind and some don't. Sound sometimes gets out of sync, but the player can be forced to re-sync usually.
Can anyone clue me in? I thought it might be a buffering problem and that would lead to the suggestion to not let the bit-rate get too high. I also read that higher bit-rates would work if I went to recordable DVDs, which I think supports this reasoning.
If someone knows what conditions cause this player to be unable to fast-forward/fast-rewind, I'd really appreciate it.
!!! Thanks !!!
