Hi,

I’m new to this forum and this is my first post : )

I’ve been using DVDXCOPY and CLONEDVD to make a copy of a dvd. Recently with new movies like Fun with Dick and Jane, I get encrypted movie error message and was wondering what software should I use to burn all DVDs including these CSS Encrypted ones?

Thanks in advance!:thanks:

Search, and perhaps re-read the forum rules (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm), particularly 1 and 1a. Your most basic question has been covered many thousands of times.

For future reference, all production movies are CSS encrypted. What you have is an ARccOS-protected disk.

Thanks for your message. I did use the search feature before I post my first question. And I went back and red forum rules one more time.

My question may sound basic to you as a person with 1341 posts. I would like to get more help as these expressions are really new to me. All I was using so far was CloneDVD and DVDXCOPY platinum and never had any problem, recently I get these errors for new DVDs which have beeb released recently. Would any one help me please? Or help me what to search for? I searched for "CSS Encrypted" and didn't get much back.

Thanks in advance!

I searched for "CSS Encrypted" and didn't get much back.
As I said (and Koti provided a link with the solution), your disk is ARccOS protected. You won't find any help from searching with the words "CSS Encrypted" because they're all that way. It would be like trying to find specific posts about coffee by searching for "the kind grown in the mountains" because coffee will only grow there. Everyone on the coffee forum knows this and feels it would be redundant to mention it; therefore your search comes up with nothing.

Thanks guys. I saw the link and started reading all those numbers they posted. But you know, for a beginner like me, Iit wasn't quite understandable. Can you tell me what software to use please? And I look for more answers searching the keyword you've provided me.

Thanks

@tezarin

Hi!

For two simple ways to accomplish your purpose, you can use (freeware) DVDFab Decrypter (Different than DVD Decrypter), or (commercial) DVD95Copy).

Alternatively, there is a third method (freeware), involving the use of several different programs - DVD Decrypter, PGCEdit and either FixVTS or VOBBlanker...

Sure, here's the result so far: I downloaded DVD Fab Decriptor from this website :
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/DVDFab-Decrypter-Download-23187.html
and its the Express version. It asks you to choose the source and destination and the destination can't be D:\DVD, so I copied all the audi and video files on my hard drive and then tried to copy them from hard to DVD and it said "Unable to create DVD folder on D:\" So I might go back and download another version.

Can you please let me know where to get a full version and how does it work? I even tried to select source and destination both D and it didn't work. Should I have two DVD drive in order to do this?

Thanks in advance

You can get the correct and current version of DVDFab Decrypter at:

http://dvdidle.com/free.htm

or

http://209.172.35.173/download/DVDFabDecrypter29.exe

Thanks a lot. I will do it right now.

Do you know if I need to have one DVD drive or two? Because the Express version says source: DVD and destination Hard Drive and if I select the DVD drive for both, it fails.

Hi again,

I just tried to download this and it was teh same file I downloaded last night the link you provided me is the Express version which I don't know how to use. Here's what it say:

1) I put the DVD inside the D drive (DVD drive).
2) It automatically sets the:

Source : [that DVD]
Destination: C: Document and Setting\Tezarin\My Document\DVD

Now, it reads the whole DVD and puts that on the hard drive in that destination folder.

Now, if you could please let me know how would I put the files to the empty DVD and finish the back up process?

I really really really appreciate your help.

You should now be able to use the files created on your hard drive with the programs you've previously used for compressing and burning...

Thanks for your reply.

So, you mean this DVDFab software should be used only to burn the DVD on the hard drive and for burning the output to the blank DVD another software should be used? Is that how you use that, too?

Thanks again.

So, you mean this DVDFab software should be used only to burn the DVD on the hard drive and for burning the output to the blank DVD another software should be used?Yes, because you'll likely be compressing the DVD (and DVDFab Decrypter doesn't compress, it only removes copy protection)...

tezarin--You're having a hard time with terminology. You "burn" files to a disc. You "copy", or "transfer", or "rip" files to the hard drive. Even if you're passing the file through a descrambling software on it's way to a folder on your computer, we don't call this "burning".

Setarip_Old, thanks for your explaination. Is there any sofware I can use to back up a CSS Encrypted DVD into a blank DVD in one step? Because in DVDXCOPY or other software, you can select the DVD drive to be your source and destination drive.

AMMCK55, well, I guess in Computer school, they didn't do a good job with teaching us the right "Terminology" for burning or other DVD related tasks!! But I guess there are still so many nice/smart people here like SETARIP_OLD who know what I mean by saying burning. It takes time for a beginner to become experienced, ya know?!
FYI, by burning I mean making a copy of a DVD to another DVD. Whatever you call it, I just needed to find out a software to copy a ARccOS DVD to a blank DVD and was looking for a software which does that in one step, because DVDFab Decrypter doesn't copy it from DVD to DVD, it copies it from DVD to hard drive. Sorry if I couldn't be more clear dude.

I am afraid you are out of luck. There isn't such software (yet).

abond, so if you ever have to back up a ArccOS DVD, you use DVDFab Decrypter and it puts the files on your hard drive then you use another software to put the files to a blank DVD?

But I guess there are still so many nice/smart people here like SETARIP_OLD who know what I mean by saying burning.Well, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to decipher your meaning by the context of your post, I just thought I'd politely point out your ill-use of ripping terminology.

FYI, by burning I mean making a copy of a DVD to another DVD.That might have been what you meant, but it was not what you posted.

Sorry if I couldn't be more clear dude. For someone who obviously needs a lot of help, I find your attitude quite churlish. Drop the 'tude, and drop the "dude", I find neither attractive. Familiarize yourself with all of the Forum Rules (top of page) before you find yourself running afoul of such.

Is there any sofware I can use to back up a CSS Encrypted DVD into a blank DVD in one step?Sure, if you don't mind paying for a commercial program - DVD95Copy will rip, compress (if necessary) and burn your copy...

setarip_Old,

thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate it.

I tried to back up that DVD using DVDFab and it copied it on the hard drive, then I used CloneDVD to put the file from Hard drive to the blank DVD. It went to 100% and then said Unable to do the task, unknown error occured.

Do you happen to know any software that copied it from hard drive to DVD without any problem?

Thanks again, you've been really helpful.

Nero Burning ROM?

tezarin

Hey,

I've tried Nero, but it said the movie size is bigger than the DVD and I need to compress it which Nero can't. any other thought?

A manufactured, or "pressed" disc may be dual layer (two layers pressed together), and may contain twice as much data as the commonly available DVD writers and burnable media (DVD-R/RW DVD+R/RW), which have only a single layer.

I think its time you started doing some reading -- in particular, I recommend Doom9's DVD backup guides: http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdbackup-guides.htm

In addition, you may find some of the dozen links in http://www.doom9.org/dvd-basics.htm helpful.
