A friend of mine has XP and he uses WMP9 and 10 and on SOME "WMV9" streams the video DOES NOT COME UP......

Whats strange is,some of them DO come up but other WMV9 video doesnt.......

I have been trying to help him figure this out like crazy.....Luckily I can view the 1 WMV9 stream he cant view (Even in wmp 9)

Anyone know what might be causing this?? Im stumped http://www.myfilestash.com/userfiles/thedude/confused.gif

He can view this WMV9 stream fine

But this WMV9 stream has no video for him

Works here normaly try installing codec pack http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/0/3/a0398036-25b9-410c-b371-c59957c1b0f4/WM9Codecs.exe or update your windows media player 10

Thank you Wilbert and you also GmorG :)

Ill tell him that,i think he did just update his MPEG 4 codec..

He updated his MP10 and it had NO EFFECT and i asked him if he tried installing the codec pack, ill let ya's all know when and if he does!!!

Peace :)

He has installed the codec and still has NO VIDEO.....

I suggested dumping WMP10 and installing 9 (10 is crap IMO anyway..9 is much better)

Thanks to all :)

EDIT:

He tried installing the codec pack on his desktop which has WMP9 (He also has no video when playing it in WMP10)

I think its an update that MS sent to either WMP9 (xp)/10 or to XP itself..........

I've been doing some xpirementing with my friend and i discovered that if i send him a file (dump a live WMV9 stream into a local file) and send it to him as a *.wmv, his WMP10 plays it find (video also) but if he tries to stream a WMV9 mono stream,he gets NO VIDEO....... I think its cause his connection speed isnt very good where he is @ the time........

I cant understand though why it only affects WMV9 MONO streams,wmv9 STEREO he can stream and view fine......

I suggested trying to set the buffering @ 60secs and see what happens then (He has it @ default i think now)

He went into OPTIONS/PERFORMANCE and changed his 'connection speed' setting to a higher rate (I thought he had it set on "DETECT CONNECTION SPEED" thats why i didnt say anything) I have mine set to default,so i figured he did too....

Ah well.........
