I've been trying to get chapters to be saved while using MKVtoolnix for quite some time, yet I'm not sure what's wrong.
I encode an MKV file using MeGUI and X264. I mux the audio and video together into another MKV file. Then, I will drop the chapters (ogg format) into the chapter editor, click on the chapter editor drop down menu and "save to matroska file". After it analyzes the file and "writes" to the file, the weirdness happens.
First, the file will not open while mkvmerge is open. When I close mkvmerge, I can open the file, but MPC has to read through the file (has the percentage count down in the bottom left hand corner). No chapters are present. I can drop the file into mkvmerge and mux it (without adding anything) into another file and there will be no problems. SOMETIMES it will mux with the chapters. Most of the time it will not.
Am I missing something here? I'm pretty sure I'm not being totally inept. What is bothering me is that the same process is producing different results and that when I save the chapters to the matroska file nothing is happening.
