is it possible to burn a virtual audio cd on a virtual drive with daemon tools?

i tried making an image of a blank cd-r with clonecd but it said i can not make images of empty discs.

i am asking this because the best way to convert .m4p files to .mp3 files is to burn an audio cd and then rip the tracks with a ripping program to get the .wav files. (an audio cd is just a header file with a bunch of .wav files as the tracks, and .wav is a lossless audio format so there is no worry of loss of quality)

now, this is all fine, but i hate wasting real life cd-r's in this process.

is there any way to burn a virtual audio cd in a virtual drive using deamon tools? or any other program?

Nero and Roxio can do it....

instead of selecting E: or another drive as your recorder you select Image Recoder

then you use Nero ImageDrive or Daemon Tools to host the image...

Yes, setarip is right. I didn't see that part of your post. I only saw that you needed to host an image...

You shouldn't do all that ripping garbage, it's a total waste of time.

And when you do MP3, make sure ur doing Lame Mp3.

ok so i need to use besweet to convert my .m4p files to .mp3? besweet can do that? or does besweet convert them to .m4p to .mp4 and then i can convert the .mp4 files to .mp4 with ease?

EDIT:

i just downloaded BeLight, and i loaded the .m4p file and i selected the .mp3 tab as output, and then i hit 'start' and it would create a .mp3 file that was 0 bytes in size.

what am i doing wrong? im trying to convert .m4p files to .mp3

Do you also have BeSweet installed? BeLight is just the GUI.

AFAIK BeSweet can't decode m4p files...
Try to play your m4p files in foobar2000 - if it plays fine You can use foobar2000 converter plugin for transcoding
If not try to play your m4p files via DirectShow based player (like WMP or MPC). If it plays fine then try BeHappy or MeGUI to transcode

*.m4p .. aren't those itunes DRMed tracks?
Buy a cd-rw, burn it with itunes, then rip to whatever you want.
Another potential solution would be to try the m4p plugin for winamp, and use winamp to transcode them (I have no idea if that would actually work, it would depend on how the plugin works)

On the whole 'virtual cd burner' thing... I don't think there is a virtual drive that can do that (none that I know of anyways), but it is certainly a feature I would like to have as well :)
