using latest 1.09.3 + autoqmatenc 032.1 + 034.4 i tried aqm (once again)

this is what i was faced with and i wouldnt know where to look for the errors:

http://www.digital-digest.com/~uncasms/aqm034_4prob_1.jpg

in addition to this strange behaviour there is one other thing i noticed with latest pro version 1.09.3:

switching from cce/aqm to procoder i find this in the status window:

- "CCE Adaptive Quantizer Matrices" is enabled.

i'm not sure it will done any harm but using procoder mode this option should definitely not be active

It won't matter. I'll fix it in the next release. As for the other problem, I'll defer to SAPSTAR. I did several movies with AutoQMatEnc during testing and had no problems.

make sure you have write premissions in the premission C:\;)

Because it need to write there.:)

Hmmm it looks like if AQE was not installed correctly. Please be sure to use the installer. DCTune2.0 path must be in the system variable path.

I can see that your path is "C:\Programme\AutoQMatEnc", I think jdobbs warned people to use the default path until a reg key is used. (Installer for 0.33b will set this reg key).

I did several movies with AutoQMatEnc during testing and had no problems.

Each time I set AutQMatEnc beta 33.04 to run through DVDRB
1.9.03 I get this error report "AutoQMatEnc.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" This is a xp system error report. This happen when I start encode. However when set for RB to use AutoQMatEnc v32b non beta it works fine. Am I missing something here? Help. Here is the log

This seems to do with the manner how the installation/update of AQE is done. I've to say that currently I've installed both last RB-PRO / RB-FREE (this for testing purpose) and with both I got success using latest AQE 0.33 beta 4.

Ah, make sure that for last AQE update (0.33 beta 4) you should to follow this order: 1. Install stable 0.32 from installer; 2. Unpack 0.33 beta 3 into AQE installation folder; 3. So unpack 0.33 beta 4 into AQE installation. Ah, I'm using AviSynth 2.5.6 (01-13-2006) just for your information.

I've been using DVD-RD Pro with HC for some time now but I've ben reading about AutoQMatEnc and it sounds really fascinating. I downloaded and installed AutoQMatEnc then installed the full DVD-RB package.

Had a problem in that AutoQMatEnc was greyed-out on the file menu. Reading jdobbs' release notes sorted that out because I had installed AutoQMatEnc in DVD-RB's Encoders directory and, because DVD-RB assumes a standard AutoQMatEnc installation, I needed to make DVD-RB's ini file point to its custom path.

No big deal but it illustrates how a "Problem" can often be painlessly sorted out by reading the docs, and why full installation packages are (for me) the way to go.

Going to bed soon, leaving DVD-RB running on Matrix1. Might try the new HC tomorrow to compare results. Aren't DVD+RW's wonderful?

Thanks, all concerned, for the good work. It feels like Christmas again!

okay got it set-up I'm assuming that ecl files are being generated by rb?? I have ecl cce but didn't see the option to point to it? and I didn't notice a version included in the update.

oh well it appears to be working regardless.

another ? is there a way to adjust the amount of threads used by AQE it say's it's using 4 determined by my hardware but showing to peak @ around 72% cpu usage.

If you add threads=## in each ECL, it will use this as the number of threads. Maybe a future setting in DVDRB?!

Yep, RB controls all things and is generating the ECL files. If you want use CCE SP by means of ECLCCE.exe, you just have to go into Setting -> Setup -> Path to CCE SP (new) and there point to ECLCCE.exe out.

Regard on number of threads in AQE, for you to do a manual tweak of this feature, it should be available on RB inteface, at AutoQMatEnc settings.

good info, although I think this to be a tedious task so I'll let it be.

since this seems to be the place for aqe ?'s what is the benefits/drawbacks if any of the QMatOp setting for those that don't know ( me :D )

just wanted to add another thank you for the encoder and to jdobbs as well for incorporating it viewing the m2k files quality looks superb like getting a new toy :)

I've done all these steps except:
2. Unpack 0.33 beta 3 into AQE installation folder;
After reinstalling the three dlls stored in 0.33b3 everything's working now. :)

I'll be adding more options to the AutoQMatEnc "Advanced Settings" box in the next release. Right now the default download at the site is still .32b -- and I didn't want to add options that would require the beta version.

Of course! I would have done the same....0.33b should be out by next week, If I had no report from beta testers of any major bug.

There is a link at the bottom of the main page....but beware this is the beta tester area....
The current 0.33.0.4b seems to be rather stable, but with betas you never know :)

Hi,

I read the posts in this thread here a couple of times and still can't get AQM to run in direct mode. I still get:
[18:12:12] Phase II ENCODING started
- Creating M2V for VTS_10 segment 0
-- V10000000002001 no .M2V, retrying.

- Creating M2V for VTS_10 segment 0
- Failed to create M2V: V10000000002001
- The encoder doesn't appear functional.
- Aborting...

I've installed the betas as directed, used the default install path for AQM, even tried to put the path in the INI file. I have gotten it to run if I set the mode to run CCE SP trial mode but hten it won't see the CCEAQM=1 setting in the INI file. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: CCESP Trial mode won't work now either. I''l try a reinstall of AQM.

Could you try to deactivate QMatOp?! If it worked, it means you're missing the DCTune2.0 path in your system variable.

If it doesn't work with QMatOp deactivated, could try to upgrade to the latest AQE (0.33.0.4) and give me the log...it's more detailed.

It should have been installed automatically by the installer, but maybe your variable was already too long if you had too many programs installed.(Thanks Bill! :) )

You can try to add it manually:
Right-Click on 'My Computer' ; Properties ; Advanced tab ; Environment Variables ; Choose the Path variable and add the path to the AutoQMatEnc installation path.

Thanks for a new "free" MPEG2 encoder, used it once and it did an outstanding job encoding my DVD. I'm using DVDRBPro v1.09.3 complete with QMATOpt built in. I have been trying to find a way to have the "DOS Box" screen run minimized with RB Pro and have only found an option for RB Free to use a program to generate a "configuration" file, with an option to add a command line "RunHidden=1" to have the QMATOpt run minimized. I have read your forum, very professional and nicely done, and haven't found any way to eliminate the "DOS Box" pop-ups when running AQE with RB Pro.

Any help will be appreciated.

In my case AQE and QMATOpt run minimized.
Have a look at RB setup if "Run encoders minimized" is checked.

Thanks, I checked and the "run encoders minimized" was checked. Re encoded another DVD, same problem. However, if I "Ctrl+Alt+Delete" to get into Windows Task Manager, then the "DOS Box" minimizes. Until the next run then it pops back up. I'm not having any problems with AQM encoder or QMATOpt. They are working great. Just this "DOS Box" pop up is distracting. I guess I'll wait for the next release of DVD RB Pro and AutoQMatEnc.

I'm using AQM v0.32 beta. I can't get the beta tester version release. Searches find sites for it but the sites are "down".

Thanks for help.

I've tested it several times. For me if I have "Run Encoders Minimized" in the SETUP dialog -- the DOS window runs minimized as it should... is anyone else having this problem? You wouldn't, by chance, be loading a project file would you? If "Run Encoders Minimized" is not set in the project file it would reset back every time you load it.

You are right. My problem was Windows XP SP2 and it's handling of programs in MSDOS. It's now corrected and working properly. I had to change the properties of the Command Prompt window to run minimized and in a window. The full screen "DOS Box" apparently happened when I installed an old DOS game I wanted to play, it must have affected all DOS based programs thereafter. Mia Culpa. But as they say "The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask!" Again thanks for the support, it wasn't your program or the encoder.

I found it with your polite help, thanks compadre.
My problem was with MSDOS in Win XP SP2. Please see my last post.

Good. At least I can scratch that one off the "worry list".
