View Full Version : How to fix my broken Xvid?

After playing around with AviSynth, ffdshow and so on I encountered that my Xvid isn't able to do a proper 1st pass anymore.

When I select 1st pass and encode something (I tried several programs) all I get is a huuge .avi and no video.pass file.
Reinstalling Xvid didn't help and so didn't a removal of all programs I thought might cause the problem.

I've no more ideas what to do and I don't want to reswitch to Divx (far too slow).

Don't know why but now everything seems to work again.

I just tried another program and everything went fine.

I think I started celebrating too soon. Below a shot of what happened when I encoded a video?

I just ran 1st pass and then 2nd @ 1100kBit.

How could this happen and how can I get rid of the pixels and those strange symbols?

Try hitting "restore defaults" in xvid's main window, then run a short encode entirely with defaults. Then reconfigure from there if it works. Hopefully that'll fix everything.

Thx, no it works again but I wonder why I didn't have the idea, too

Btw can you tell me why there are always two Xvids to select in the programs? One that says FourCC "Xvid" and the other FourCC "yv12". Before the trouble there was only one entry.

yv12 reference are internally used for decoding yv12 colorspace. Leave it alone

Use normal "xvid" .

and post your script for a better "debug" :)
