Hello, First time post so apologies for any protocol errors.

Used to be I had no problems with my back-up activites but now the discs I make have freezing problems during playback even though I get successful operation messages during all phases of backup. I'm using a Sony DVD burner with Verbatim DVD-R media. I've never had any problem with the media previously. I'm using DVD Fab Decrypter for ripping, the VOB Blanker for cleanup, DVDShrink, and finally Imgburn. Does the write speed matter? Is my burner just on the fritz. I downloaded the new firmware and will try that tonight but just wanted to see if there were any other ideas.

Thanks.

Hi!Does the write speed matter? Is my burner just on the fritz.Try to avoid burning at too high speed - try burning at 4X.

If you've gotten a lot of use from your burner, it might benefit from running a DVD/CD cleaning disc on it. Maxell makes one that sells for approximately $10US. You might also want to run this disc on your standalone player.

You might also want to avoid using DVDFab Decrypter, unless absolutely necessary. Most versions purportedly immediately automatically replace unreadable sectors with "dummy" sectors. This could also cause the type of problem you're experiencing...

I had started using DVDFab to avoid the whole ARCOSS problem as it was faster than the PGCedit process with DVDD. But with your sage advice I will take the extra time as well as going to 4x and cleaning the drive.

On a side note. I've read alot of these forums looking for various forms of advice and just wanted to give a hearty thanks to you Setarip as I see you offering excellent guidance all over the place. So thanks for everything!
