I've done a movie with AAC-HE using Nero 6 and muxed it with MP4Box using x264 as video codec. Sounds good using ffdshow but VLC gives only stutter, mostly silence.

cmdl

BeSweet: "D:\Software\AV\StaxRip Anwendungen\BeSweet\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "E:\Video\Dark Angel\01\VTS_01_1 02 de-German 2_0ch 192Kbps DELAY -7ms.ac3" -output "E:\Video\Dark Angel\01\VTS_01_1 02 de-German 2_0ch 192Kbps DELAY -7ms_AudioOutput.mp4" ) -azid( -c normal -L -3db ) -ota( -d 0 -g max ) -dimzon( -dllname bse_Nero7WA.dll -2ch -vbr_streaming -codecquality_high -aacprofile_he )

MP4Box: "D:\Software\AV\StaxRip Anwendungen\MP4Box\MP4Box.exe" -fps 25.000 -add "E:\Video\Dark Angel\01\VTS_01_1_EncoderOutput.264:name=Video" -add "E:\Video\Dark Angel\01\VTS_01_1 02 de-German 2_0ch 192Kbps DELAY -7ms_AudioOutput.mp4:lang=deu:name=German:sbr" -new "E:\Video\Dark Angel\01\VTS_01_1.mp4"

The obvious things first: -

What's resolution is your x264 video stream?

I presume your PC is powerfull enough to play it... yes?

Is there any reason why you are not using FFdshow's H.264 video filter?

I was reading it's supposed to work with Nero 6 + 7, did you read something else?

What's resolution is your x264 video stream?

704x384 (=270336)

I presume your PC is powerfull enough to play it... yes?

I'm using Athlon XP 2.2 or 2200+, CPU is at 50%

Is there any reason why you are not using FFdshow's H.264 video filter?

I prefer ffdshow but just want to know what's wrong with the VLC playback, maybe the problem is my file and not VLC.

I prefer ffdshow but just want to know what's wrong with the VLC playback, maybe the problem is my file and not VLC.Thanks for the confirmation mate....

I currently have VLC version 0.8.5 Test 2 installed and I'm able to confirm perfect playback of: 6Ch AAC audio @ 128Kbps, x264 video @ 720x576 (with 64:45 ARS) pixels and 1No VOBsub stream!

I hope that helps you... a bit!

Thanks, I've just tried with a sample clip, same problem but it works with mkv so maybe it's my MP4Box version or command line, maybe you can tell me your version and command line?

... so maybe it's my MP4Box version or command line, maybe you can tell me your version and command line?I'm useless with doing things via "command-line"... so I use this version of YAMB (http://yamb.unite-video.com/Yamb-1.6_20060428.7z) with this version of MP4Box (http://www.cera.cz/gpac/mp4box.zip).

It was VLC, I had 0.8.4 which I thought was the latest stable but they have now a 0.8.4a as latest stable. I went straight to the beta which works. Thanks for the help (also to Carpo) and for the hint about the VLC version.

VLC doesn't use FFDShow in the first place. It has its own internal codecs. Which is why it is so disliked by the online anime community. If you insist on using VLC, then use it. I won't kill you for that - I would if you were using BSplayer. But I recommend you to uninstall VLC, FFDShow and any other codec packs and install CCCP. Then it's sure to work...always.

You mean that shareware decoder? ffdshow which is free works fine so far.

CCCP is NOT shareware nor will the developers EVER take money for it. Go to http://cccp-project.net. CCCP uses a modified version of FFDShow, specifically designed for anime. By far, it is the best codec pack out there.
