What do you think, will any US Movie Studio go for AVC on HD-DVD ? now that Universal officialy outed themselves for VC-1 (Microsoft USA) and probably Paramount following soon (seing all the WMV-HD stuff they test released in Europe with Microsoft).
Or do you think that Dialog will be rarely used in the Future by any US Movie Studio and more used in the Broadcast World ?. Actually there is allready Sonys (Japan) Resident Evil (Constantin Film Germany) in AVC but how much more will follow :D
Everyone is talking about the Format war that's going on but nobody about the Codec War that takes place in the same time hehe :D

Looking at sreenshots it seems like truth that Blu-ray has 4 ref. limitation comparing to HD-DVD non limited 16 refs.

This screenshoot is not from Sonic software encoder (Cinevision).
May be it's from the new software of Mainconcept (new version of H264 encoder).

who cares if hollywood will use vc-1 or avc? the important thing is that every bluray/hddvd player will support avc and this means we can play our homemade x264 encodes :D

Excatly the thoughts of most people from H.264 subforum (including mine)
Finally people will decide what codec to use for HD-DVD-rip
Not companies :)

Thats exactly how I do it. But not everybody wants a PC in a HighTec HiFi AC3 5.1 Surround Sound Room. ;-)

That's why you get a mac mini, or something equally hifi styled. =D Supposedly Intel's Viiv initiative is supposed to lead to more silent mini-media-PCs from big brands, but not much has come of that so far, aside from the brands that've been doing it for years already.

No news about Dolby Digital Plus and TrueHD.
2 audio codecs from Dolby include in HD DVD and BluRay specification
