hi,
i'm looking for a good free screenshot capturing app that can be set up to take screenshots automatically every 10secs or so, so i don't need to keep pressing keys repeatedly. this will be especially helpful for taking ingame screenshots.
thanks.

Try ScreenHunter, timed shots 1-60 seconds apart. There is a free version

thanks for the quick reply- tried it but it doesn't have an auto capture setting- its timed shots still require f6 to be pressed for each capture. i'm looking for something that takes a screenie every 10 secs or so after f6 or its equivalent is pushed just once.
screenprint platinum v3 has this function (called autocapture) but i get a "GetDIB failed" error after 2 or 3 captures.

make a script to do it for you?
look up the control charactor for your screen cap button and make a timer in a VB script
you can run them on their own or from a CLI

Try the following:
http://www.etrusoft.com/screenshot-maker-online-help/capturetimer.htm
You can download and distribute the fully functional unlicensed copy. Quick Screenshot Maker is shareware. See the topic: How Can I Purchase Quick Screenshot Maker

In the free version (which is what I have) you can designate F-1 through F-12 and the Print Screem Key, set the timer delay for 10 seconds, no notification when capture complete and put a weight on the key you designated or tape it down and it is like a free version of auto capture.
The free version doesn't have auto capture but the Plus and Pro do and they cost $.

Irfanview also allows to automatically save multiple screenshots with a selected delay.

Yeah, it's true. In addition to it, there is this small utility done in AHK (http://www.megaupload.com/pt/?d=UDLXWQZW) (I didn't it, just compiled it ;) ) which is great for screenshot capture (again, it needs irfanview installed in your box).

@SallyDog - :sly:
@chromium - I couldn't find a way to shut the sound off in Irfanview. Is there a way?
@danpos - Is this a plugin for Irfanview? The link went to EasyCopy.zip which contains Easycopy.exe

Nope, it's a utility that uses the 'engine' of Irfanview for to do screenshots capture. It was done with AutoHotKey script language (http://www.autohotkey.com/) and in this thread at AHK forum (http://www.autohotkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5273&highlight=easycopy) you can to take a look at more informations about it. As I said, I just compiled the script (coz I've AutoIt3 installed on my system) and this .exe is which I've used currently so far.

Some of the Parental Control programs have not only a key logger, but take screenshots at regular intervals. You might be able to re-purpose something like that.

DemoStudio has a utility named screencopy that can do that very well. Unfortunately It seems that this project does not exist anymore in the sourceforge, but maybe u can find it somewhere else.
