Compress using DivX with no admin?

Hi :) .

Is it possible to install xvid (or similar) codec if I don't have admin rights to the PC I am using? I would like to compress some avi files I have on the PC, but the ones built in in windows are not very good. I can use any software, as long as its free and possible to install without admin. I've got Virtualdub right now. Thanks.

CLI applications don't need installing.

Doesn't it require an installation (MeGUI)? Or at least it requires the .NET Framework.

So it is not possible to compress to xvid/divx without admin while using a GUI? Isnt there an application with "built-in" codecs like VLC Media Player?

If there's .NET installed on the machine you're working on it could be that you are able to run just the MeGUI executable (not the installer). But unfortunately all the people who develop .NET based GUIs develop using beta-versions of .NET 2.0 while .NET 1.1 is more likely to be installed on your PC - if it is installed at all.

You can compress just fine, you just can't install vfw codecs (or most anything else system-related). If you have .net 2, try megui and xvid_encraw, otherwise... try to get admin or get someone who is to install it.
