How do I add subtitles with MeGui? I'm using an MP4 container with AAC audio and I want to be able to turn the subs on or off.

You can use SubRip to extract the subs and MeGUI will convert them to ttext when you select them in the mux window. You can find a link to the program in the subtitle forum. Make sure you also download the character matrix or you will have to invest a lot of time making your own for different DVDs.

Thanks. I'll go there right now. I've spent a lot of time a MeGui and running tests today. At this rate I'll be an expert in about 10yrs? Thanks again.

How did AutoGK do subtitles? Seems like it did it all behind the scenes without needing to do any manual work using SubRip.

Auto GK does burnt in subs only. Not something I wanted to do unless it was forced subs like aliens or war movies. Check oit Auto GK forum...there's a lot of info there. If you are looking for a program that automates converting DVD to AVI it is a great program. I still use it all the time. I'm interested in MeGui for the MP4 container with the on/off subs and chapters...similar features to a DVD. The AVI container doesn't give us that.

FYI you can also mux VobSub in MP4 (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=821101) now. While it's obviously bigger than the Text files you avoid errors that the OCR can introduce which is a big plus for me. There are still some small problems with it, but I'm sanguine they will be sorted out in a couple of days or weeks.
If you want to use MeGUI for muxing it's not the right option for you, at least not yet. I hope it wil be implemented when the quirks are worked out and the refactoring of MeGUI itself is completed.

With the divx container(avi) you "can export/recreate" a dvd onto the divx media format, with the same menus, movies, extras, subs(switchable), audio (switchable) of your original dvd.

take a look HERE (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=109622) and download the SAMPLE HERE (http://rapidshare.de/files/18019549/divxmedia.divx.html)
