Menu or balloontip in front of movie causes slowdown and cpu spike. (MPC)

When i'm watching a movie in MPC (any version i tried ) and a balloontip pops up or i open a menu it will cause the movie to have a 1fps playback and the CPU will spike heavy. It happens only in MPC i think.

What can cause this?


pc: Athlon 2400+, Asus A7V8X, 512 cas2 ram, XP sp1.
Installed: AC3Filter, DivX 5.1.1, XviD 1.0.2-29082004 Koepi, Real alt 1.43, Qt alt 1.62, latest MPC.

Sorry to bump my own post but i still hope that someone can help me here.

The slowdown / 1 fps movie playback doesn't happen when i place i.e. a notepad window over the movie, it happens when i open any mpc menu during playback, rightclick or from the top. Also when a balloontip opens.

This happens if you have an ATI video card, anything casting a shadow slows down any other d3d rendering running at the same time. Does not happen with nvidia cards.
