Im looking into putting an mpeg2/transport stream into an mkv container. I can do this with mkvmerge if i demux the .ts to an M2V. Everything works out ok but when i try and seek the video just freezes and the audio continues to play.

I used mpeg2mkv from http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=68865&highlight=mpeg2mkv and it works out fine and seeking is very fast.
Is there some setting in mkvmerge gui to allow seeking in mpeg2 files?
Thank you for any help.

ps......Yes i have tried searching....

Here is the codecs and programs i use:
Haali media splitter
Ac3 filter
Dscaler5
Zoom Player 4.51
MkvMerge gui 1.6.5
Xmuxer Pro

There is nothing to do. Can you try to play the file in VLC and see if it works better ?

I was trying different things and found out what was wrong. I have an m2v and ac3 in an mkv container. I use dscaler5 to decode mpeg2. For some reason this does not work, i use something else like ffdshow and it seeks fine. It also works fine in vlc.

I have had no problems playing MPEG2s muxed by Mkvmerge (mkvtoolnix), I always used Media Player Classic as player and ffdshow/Haali as decoder/splitter.

Does mpeg2mkv works better? It seems to be an old tool by now, maybe mkvmerge share the same code, I don't know.

Please can anyone of the devs could confirm which (mpeg2mkv or mkvmerge) is better for correct creation?

I have done AV3+MPEG2 in mkv with mkvtoolnix several times with good results. Played back with Haali, PureVideo, ffdshow-audio in MPC.
