Hi!

Sounds like you have either an "ARccOS" or "RipGuard" copy protected DVD, that DVD Shrink cannot directly process.

What is the Title and Region of your DVD that you're trying to copy?

Welcome to the Forum, Tabby2:

Hostel is a Sony Pictures release; chances are good that it's ArccoS protected. One solution would be to run it through DVDFab Decrypter (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DVDFab_Decrypter.htm), then process the results in Shrink. This is only one way to defeat the ArccoS protection scheme, others may suggest alternate methods that will accopmlish your goal of a successful backup. It's nice to have choices. ;)

How do I get it into shrink

In a nutshell, when you open up the software, you're presented with two options drop-downs, "Source", and "Target". Source is the drive in which you've inserted the disc, Target is where you want to send it so you can easily find the rascal. I'd suggest making a dedicated folder for your rips and naming it with something you can...remember. Next, pull up Shrink and click the "Open Files" menu option and navigate to and load the file you just created in DVDFab.

If you need more concise instructions, here's a link to a very good guide on DVDFab Decrypter Express (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=51904).

@Tabby2

Hi!

If using the software and procedures suggested by "ammck55" doesn't resolve your dilemma, you might want to read all of the information contained in the following thread:

"ammck55" But it didn't work only got part of the movie. Not sure what happened? Looked at what you said and I am so very new at all of this that I'm not sure what to do. It says to add something to DVDFab Decruptor I thinkand I'm not sure how to do any of it. I'm a newbie. Maybe you would be able to walk me through it?

But it didn't work...
What "didn't work"? You neglected to mention any real details about your workflow, but I'll assume that you're using DVDFab Decrypter and Shrink. Go back to the link I supplied to the guide in my previous post. If your problem is with Shrink, head on over to the DVD Shrink (http://www.dvdshrink.info) site and grab a guide from there to help you.

Information; we need more of it. "This thing doesn't work" doesn't cut it. Make a note, or run a printscreen, of any error messages that the software throws. Exact error messages, not "something like". If you give us precise information to work with, we can help.

Sorry. I put the movie through DvdFab Decrypter and through Dvd Shrink.I burnt it with Nero everything was fine.I checked to see if it burnt in my Dvd player and it came up so I put it away. Went to watch it last night, brought up the menu and play it,was 6mins into it and it was over.The credits came up,so I looked at sence selections they were there but the movie wasn't. I came back to the computer and looked at Dvd Shrink and brought up the movie and some of the Titles were missing in Main Movie Titles 2through5 were not there. Not sure if I did something wrong or what.
