Need Help on Jumpy Motion

The problem:
Ive tried lots of solutions but I just cant get get rid of the problem.
When I watch AVI files, sometimes, when the camera moves, the motion gets very jumpy. (Do you Know what I am talking About?Like freezes or little interruptions when the camera moves sideways, sometimes frontways) It may have something to do with the sound, because when the movies come in ac3 the problem seems to get worse. Now, with some arrangements I made it is better, but far from perfect.

Can you explain to me what is wrong and why this happens?

Can you give me a good solution to get rid of the avi "jumpy motion", for once and for all? Codec combination, player, etc.

How did you encode the AVI files and what is their content?

1) Are you watching the .AVIs that you made on your PC or an a standalone DVD player that plays .AVIs?

2) If you're watching them on a standalone DVD player, what is the brand and model number?

3) Have you always had this problem with .AVIs that you'v ecreated, or is this a recent occurence?

4) have you tried playing them on someone else's PC, to see if they exhibit the same behavior?

I think i'm going to be clobered with this confession. I did not rip (backup). The problem concerns movies in general (avi), its not a specific ripping problem - I just need advice on decoding - tweeking and optimizing.

Well, I have made my experiences (lots of them) on encoding, tryed many solutions, know my way arround virtual dub and dubbing, swapping codecs, using filters, directshow, graphedit (graphedit - if you know what you are doing this is all you need ), and so on... I have to thank doom 9 because when I need to handle a problem in encoding, the solution is allways here. Great forum, great site, i have learned a lot with DOOM9.

But right now I need some advice on tweeking my decoding - sugestions on codec choosing, etc, anything that will come handy, and turn my video watching light an smooth...

I was watching a movie with ac3 for sound. Using ac3 filter (vigostvy one) the motion got very jumpy when the background music started. Instaled ffdshow and using its ac3 codec the jumpy motion stoped on exactly the same spot of the movie.

So I though - this is not a problem that limitates itself to the encoding...

Check your settings in the Configuration of AC3Filter - Set "Gains" to -0- and put a checkmark next to "Automatic gain control"...
