I have something strange going on. I had an issue whereby I could not play WMV files in any other player but Windows Media Player without XP locking up HARD. I tracked it down to a problem with other players using the 'VMR input0 Video Renderer' as default. Windows Media Player I believe was using the new 'Video Mixing Renderer 9' (At least that's what I think it's been using) and thus played the WMV files back fine.
Like a fool I deleted the RegKey for the 'VMR input0 Video Renderer' instead of saving the key or prioritising it lower (Not sure how to do that anyhow except in Zoom Player perhaps).
Now I have a new problem. WMV files and most other files playback fine in players like Zoom Player or Media Player Classic. However I have the odd AVI that displays like the screenshot below.
The info for the file is thus.
All other AVI's I have played seem to playback fine. I can't figure out why this one plays back in such strange colours and breaks overlay output. I get no TV out for this displayed whatsoever.
Alos. Now Windows Media Player refuses to send any video to the TV output (Not that I use it for playback much).
Has anyone any idea how to fix it? It's not a video acceleration problem as far as I can tell. I am using the latest Nvidia drivers on a 6600GT card.
Also if anyone knows the registry info to retrieve the 'VMR input0 Video Renderer' I'd be grateful.
EDIT: I seem to have fixed the color problem by enabling Overlay output in ffdshow. However I have never had this problem before requiring that so am stumped a bit as to what is going on. Still no TV output using WMP though anyhow.
