Hi folks,

I wonder if anyone can help me, i've been browsing forums and allsorts for days to try and wrap my head around this one.

I have an AVI file with VBR MP3 audio.

All I want to do is convert the frame rate to 25fps to adhere to PAL standards, using VirtualDubMod I can usually do this fine and it plays back on the hardware standalone player without any hassles.

They play fine normally, but sometimes after converting the playback slowly goes out of sync.

What I usually do is Demux the audio using VDMod, and use BeSweetGUI with an AbsoluteDestiny profile to change the frame rate to 25 and convert it to CBR 320.

Using CBR 224, I get playback probs where the sound cuts out towards the end of the AVI.

CBR 320 works fine but it slowly goes out of sync.

Is there a better way of doing this?
I would prefer to keep the VBR as I know these work great on my player, all I simply want to do is change the audio frame rate to 25 fps.

Any pointers? ...sorry to be a pain in the butt.

Considering that u DO re-encoding (wich makes it easier to get u to achieve what u want) the steps I recommend u to set the audio are:
1 - Extract the mp3 form the avi (I assume u use VirtualDub?).
2 - Decode to WAV. THEN synch.
2 - Do the audio synch adjustments necessary (to think in terms of framerate is no proper for audio). Assuming that your video source is 23.976 fps and u want to get it to play as if it where 25, the audio should play 4.27% faster than the source. I would recommend you to use high quality tools, personally I use Audition 1.5.
4 - Once u get the adjusted audio, THEN recode to MP3 (CBR or VBR if u like).

As much as I love VDub, if had issues when specifying framerates, so I would recomend u to use another tiny great tool: AviFRate.exe.
1 - Using Vdub, export the video without audio.
2 - Set fps to 25 in AviFRate.exe

Now mix video and audio in VDub and it should be synched.
