HI Folks.
What you think, why manufactureres don't offer 2.35:1 aspect ration dipsplays and anamorphic dvds? Your ideas are welcomed!

are you asking why they dont offer this letterboxed to 4:3 or 16:9 ?
or are you asking why its not an option as display AR ?

for the first, well they could if they wanted to.

for the second, its out of spec. dvd can only be 4:3 or 16:9.

There are plenty anamorphic DVD releases.

(should be ALL releases though)

2.35:1 isn't in DVD or HDTV specs. so why would a manufacturer want to make a TV that would either have to crop or letterbox/pillarbox everything that is fed to it?

that cinewide thing looks cool though :)

It turns out there is a large amount of activity in this area (proper, no-bars display of 2.35:1 material). Take a look at this thread, and prepare to be amazed at some of the home theaters therein. I for one am excited about this...
