View Full Version : DGindex gives wrong length of audio

I have two MPEG2 captures at 25 fps, here are the results after DGindexing:

Clip1: 275148 frames of video @25=3h3m25.92sec
audio (MPA) length is 3h3m30.816sec

Clip2: 275886 frames of video @25=3h3m55.44sec
audio (MPA) length is 3h3m58.272sec

The difference of clip 1 is about 5 sec and Clip2 is about 3 sec, which caused severe out of a/v syn of the avi.

Any idea what were wrong????????

I did a search and realised that DGIndex may have something to do with the issue of sound and video syn when using AutoGK.

In my case, the clips are home video captures with no pretection. However, DGIdex produced different lengths of audio and video, that is where the out of syn came from.

After opening the same MPEG2 clips with TMPEGenc 2.5, I found that the difference of the length between the video (d2v) and the audio was because DGIndex missed some frames. In other word, the length of the audio was correct and the shorter duration of d2v was caused by DGindex's failing to recognize some frames in those circumstances.

I hope this would help the programmer to identify the problem.

The only way DGIndex can "miss frames" is when it truncates any non-I frames before the first I frame. Even then, the audio start is pegged to that. So if you want any help on this, you'll have to make available a source stream that I can use to duplicate your issue.

What field operation did you use to create your D2V project?

Thanks, neuron2. I will make a portion of the source for you to look into what was wrong. I used "honor pulldown Flags". But since it is a PAL 720x576 @25fps, it won't have any effect on the outcome.

ummm i doubt he needs more than 25megs worth if that.

Just make a clip that has the problem you are seeing in it and upload that. heck if you can do it in 10 megs that should be all DG needs.
