Is there a relatively easy way to convert XviD to WMV? The quality doesn't have to be great as it will only be used once for a project, and it is only about a 10 second long video. Any tips would be appreciated!

Windows Movie Maker. Load it in, save it as wmv. Don't even have to install anything. :p

Maybe you can try WinAVI Video Converter

Why install WinAvi converter, when he is trying to conver to .wmv FROM a .avi file. Furthermore, it makes sense to use a program that comes default with the computer. But you assumed he has windows, he could have ubuntu. In the case that you want an external freeware program there's always Windows Media Encoder, and my favorite, Stoik. But Foxyshadis advice is good, bc no need to install anything.

@lisa_8023

Hi!

I think your suggestion of using "WinAVI Video Converter" (a very versatile tool) is a very good alternative to using "MovieMaker" - as there's almost always more than one way to accomplish something ;>}

I think lisa_8023 works for winavi.

If the actual .wmv container isn't the issue, but just the encoding type, there's also the option of using the Windows Media VFW/VCM codec:

So just load the avi in virtualDub, select the WMV9 compressor, and you're set.
