x264 in Quicktime! First Frame is white?

Like headline says. Why? See something more, video seems a little bit darker after encoding. I've encoded on a mac in x264-cli.

The white frame would be QT trying to display embedded pic in the MP4. Try any other player.

any possibilities to make the mp4-container know that there's an embedded pic inside? the video just works fine, very fine - but it's just a bit to dark. it's for my website.

If the MP4 had an embedded still pic, the player would display it. I'm guessing there isn't any, if you simply ran the x264 cli to create the mp4. Try "New and alternative a/v containers" forum. If you provided more info about the source, others on this forum may be able to help with the video being dark issue.

i assume the quicktime framework suffers from the same problem as vfw: it has a delay caused by b-frames (while eg xvid displayed the famous "decoder lag" message, qt might display a white frame!?

either way the x264 mp4 files are fine, so the blame goes to apple

QuickTime plays back x264 videos on the dark side. VLC does not. If you'd like, you can turn the brightness up in Quictime Player (not sure if this is a pro feature only)
