Apologies if this has been covered before (I couldn't find anything in the mammoth threads devoted to MPC), but I was wondering: I have a Radeon x1300, so I want to use its fancy AVIVO-based hardware-resizing and noise-reduction when watching DVDs. The thing is, I know MPC renders to a 3D texture and applies its own pixel-shader based resizing. So, do these two things conflict? If I play a mpeg2 or WMV file (something AVIVO supports in hardware), will MPC automatically bypass its own pixel shaders and use the Radeon's DXVA support, or do I need to disable MPC's pixel shaders entirely? I'm just a little confused, since I presume AVIVO and MPC's video-renderer are mutually exclusive.

In order for DXVA decoding to work, it needs to be implemented correctly in both driver and decoder component.
DXVA-WMV decoding, for example, should work in MPC as long as the Microsoft WMV9 decoder DMO is used through DirectShow with VMR7 or VMR9... Which I believe is the default case.
As for MPEG-2 decoding... I'm pretty sure MPC's internal MPEG decoder does not support DXVA decoding.

Yes, but when I play a WMV file, is MPC using its internal pixel-shader resizer or the (presumably better) AVIVO-resizer through DXVA?
And I'm using Dscaler for mpeg-2, which does support DXVA.

MPC couldn't do any resizing of its own because that would bypass hardware decoding.
DXVA resizing would have to be done through the DXVA postprocessing component, which is separate from the decoding one.
