yeah only about 100 apps. lol

the best IMHO is final cut pro and what i use for big projects but it cost $$$$

For free i would the built in Quicktime editor is great for doing say TV shows. It does everything VDub does and more. All you need is the QT-Codec installed that you want to encode to. I do xvid and x264 in basic Quicktime editor all the time on TV shows.

if you want to try more apps goto macupdate.com or versiontracker.com and do searches for video editing apps.

You can use iMovie , any version to do basic editting of captured video. In last 2-3 years most of the Macs have been shipped with one of the version of iMovie. You can also use Quicktime as mentioned above.

Unless you have some very specific need, one of the above should work fine. If you have $$$ then there is always the "ultimate" solution: Final Cut Pro ( or its little brother Final Cut Express) :p
