Hi, guys!

I have a DVD with that structure:
VOB_01 - main movie.
VOB_02 - first extra materials.
VOB_03 - second extra materials.

All extras have a PUOP's, like lock the navigational slider and prohibited FF&FB operations (jump to +-5 sec in the PowerDVD player).

I try to reset PUOP's in VOB Blanker by check the corresponding boxes, but it takes no effect. After processing in VOB Blanker I opened the obtained DVD in PGC Edit. All PUOP's in all menus/VMG/VTS is set to 0 (disabled). But both extra materials (when normal DVD playing) still have a prohibited navigation.

When I opened each VOB in Power DVD separately the PUOP's is absent. All navigation works properly.

What is the matter? I can't understand how the PUOP's switch on in extra materials and switch off in main movie from menu commands (may be). Did a DVD player have a special register (like gprm(n)) for this function? I don't know. Please, help.

Alexander.

PUO can be placed in Title-, PGC- and VOBUlevel.
For Title- and PGC Level the PUOs are placed in the IFO.
At VOBU Level they are placed in the VOB.
You will have to remove PUOs at all levels.

In addition to PUOs the navigation slider is also locked if the title is not one_sequentiell or if there are more than one PGC in the title.

Thank's for the answer. All PUOP's was removed by VOB Blanker on all of this levels. I checked this in PGC Edit and VOB Edit later. Both programs indicated 0 of PUOP's value. I made a random selection of navigation packs at whole vob's. All of it has 0 of PUOP's.

In addition to PUOs the navigation slider is also locked if the title is not one_sequentiell or if there are more than one PGC in the title.
Sorry. I am not a DVD expert. I don't understand a term one_sequentiell. Can you tell me in more detail how I can to determine this? Thank's.

In PgcEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html), see if the PGC is random or sequential (or shuffle). All movies I've seen are sequential.

What is a VTST2, 2 and VTST 3, 2? Is it correct? May be they are reason of lock? How I can to remove it from DVD?

No - in Pgcedit you will see PG Playback mode (Offset 00A2 in VTS_PGC_x in VTS_PGCITI) located in titleset ifo and not if the title is one_sequential. You can see if the title is one_sequential in VMG_PTT_SRPT in Video_ts.ifo
If "Title playback type" shows a value < 64 it is one_sequential

If pgcedit shows e.g
VTST 2,1 TTN2
VTST 2,2 TTN2

then there are more than one pgc in the title and navigation slider is disabled

for one_sequential it should be

VTST 2,1 TTN2
VTST 2,2 TTN3

if NextPGCN, PrevPGCN or GoUp links are set the title will be marked as not_one_sequential too

A title can be defined as sequential in the PGC header (visible in the PGC Editor of PgcEdit), but not sequential in the table of titles in the VMGM (Title -> Title Play Map Table.)

If the title has only one PGC, it is probably sequential, and you can try to change those values manually. (You have to use IfoEdit to change the title type in the VMG_TT_SRPT table.)
To determine if a title has only one PGC, look in the left pane of PgcEdit.

Example of 2 sequential titles in VTST 2:
VTST 2, 1, TTN 1, Title 2
VTST 2, 2, TTN 2, Title 3

Example of one non-sequential title, and one sequential in VTST 2:
VTST 2, 1, TTN 1, Title 2
VTST 2, 2, TTN 1
VTST 2, 3, TTN 2, Title 3
TTN 1 (title 2) has 2 PGCs. The entry PGC of title 2 is VTST 2, 1, but it continues with VTST 2, 2.
In this case, you CANNOT change the type of title 2!

Also, theoretically, a sequential title must have the NextPGCN and PrevPGCN links equal to 0 (disabled). I'm not sure the same rule apply to the GoUpPGCN link, but it's probable.
However, seems that all standalone players are OK with Next/PrevPGCN values equal to the PGC number. PgcEdit uses this trick to enable the prev and next chapter buttons when the first or last chapter of a title is playing. According to mpucoder, this situation is not illegal, but this question is still debated.
PowerDVD might consider a title with the Next or Prev PGCN link > 0 as non-sequential, and therefore disable its seekbar. But don't trust it too much. On your standalone, the FF/Rew buttons will probably work.

FF/Rew buttons work in PowerDVD and WinDVD too - only navigation slider is disabled

So, why is it disabled if FF and Rew are enabled? I really don't understand the decisions of the programmers of these apps!

Anyway, thanks for this precision, bigotti5!

I backed up a DVD, and VOBblanker wasn't able to remove the PUOPs from the VOBs! It was TTN2 of multi-title.
Then I used NeroRecode again with this option enabled and restored the old IFOs (They remove ALL PUOs and this is not what I wanted).

I think it's better to set the PUOPs in IFO than in VOB because it's easier to change.

Yes they are the reason
Maestro create such a structure if you set NextPGC/PrevPGC links

If you attach or mail me your ifos (all!!) we can try to remove without destroying the navigation of DVD

E-mail ifo? No problem. I don't have any doubts what you can do it:-). But I want learn to correct all problems by myself and understand a reasons why this bug appear (this DVD is not my compiling). Therefore I ask help at this forum. Although, you'll tell me step by step recovery procedure? Or not?:-)

Ok.
I sent you a private message. Or I can upload zip to public place (50 kb). Does Rapidshare suit you?

That's even more stupid! The slider is a computer only way to do the same thing than the FF and Rew buttons. So, why is it disabled if FF and Rew are enabled?
Because a title with more than one PGC is "non one_sequential" and therefore has no time map. The slider does time seeking, while ff/fr use trick play pointers.
And even if a time map is present PowerDVD disables the slider if NextPGCN is non-zero (because this normally indicates non one_sequential)

As I said - this is a Spruce Maestro DVD
Maestro works this way if you set a Prev/NextPGC link to itself, but a time table is created though.

Open the DVD in Pgcedit

Mark VTST 2,2 TTN1
Choose "Domain - Delete last PGC in Domain"

Mark VTST 3,2 TTN1
Choose "Domain - Delete last PGC in Domain"

Pgcedit removes both PGCs (these PGCs references the same V/CIds as PGC1)

Doubleclick VTST 2,1 TTN1 and remove the invalid NextPGC link by replacing 2 to 0

Do the same for VTST 3,1 TTN1

Save the DVD

Open VIDEO_TS.IFO in Ifoedit

Mark VMG_PTT_SRPT in the upper window

In the lower window modify the values for "Title playback type" from 124 to 60 (for Title_2 and Title_3)
(64 is subtracted from the old value, 64 means not_one_sequential)

Save

try it in PowerDVD

PERFECT!!! EXCELLENT!!! Your advice solved the problem. Smart, quickly and easy:-). My respect, bigotti5! Thank's.

Great - but remove of PGCs in title domain works only if its the last PGC in domain - otherwise imho you have to use other tools as DvdRemake.

Maybe rolZ has another solution ....
