View Full Version : Encode 5.1 Wav with Creative DTS NEO 6 in Graphedit

I just bought a new Creative X-Fi xtream music sound card. I really like DTS-Neo 6 decoder that comes with the card. My only problem is it only records in realtime.

I have hundreds of hours of music (well maybe not that much =D) I want to convert into 6 channel wav files, and really do not want to do the conversion in realtime.

Has anyone figured out a way to do this through graphedit, but NOT in realtime?

BTW, I figured out how to do the conversion with CMSS-3d in graphedit not in realtime, but don't see how to with DTS-Neo 6. To me, DTS-Neo sounds so much better.

Thanks.

I kinda figured I would get no replies to this.

After looking at a few audio forums, it seems people really don't like creative sound cards.

This is the first creative product I have ever owned, and so far I think it does a great job.

I am really not sure why so many people hate creative. Then again, I am not a pro in sound what so ever.

This grpah should show u how to get DTS NEO6 upsampling with GraphEdit.

P.D. I live in South America and I had to order my Audigy 2 ZS from another state and wait 5 days to get... and it was more worth it than I expected. Or tell me how many other 7.1 soundcards have full Dolby EX and DTS-ES built-in decoding, my movies sound f*****g awesome. None, thatīs how many. I love my soundcard and anyone who talks bad about itīs out of is mind AFAIK.

Thanks wonderbra!

I didn't think to look into DMO Audio Effects.

That did the trick. :D

You just saved me all kinds of time. :goodpost:

Ok, now I have another question. :p

In my first post, I thought I figured out how to record with CMSS 3D in graph edit, but turns out I only get a 2 channel wav when doing this, not a 6 channel.

Do you know what I am doing wrong?

Also, is this the right way to upsample to a 24 bit wav, as shown in the graph below?

Thanks for all the help.

The upsampling will work but the CMSS can only be recorded tru MeadiaSource or any other app that allows ASIO recording (like Vegas 6.0 or Audition 2.0). Vegas is really good but of course the main issue for you is the realtime recording needed, so I canīt help you there, sorry :(.

I didn't realize you could map it through an ASIO program to record. For some songs, I actual like CMSS better.

I have adobe audition, and will have to do some reseach on how you do that exactly.

Really, if I could record straight to audition, make my volume adjustments in there, then save as 6 wav files, that would save me lots of time as well.

Once again wonderbra, you have been a hugh help.

Thanks again.

Itīs actually very easy, but bear in mind that ASIO support for Audition comes only in the 2.0 release, the 1.5 doesnīt.
Mt demo has expired so I canīt show how to actually do it but there should be a option in the Device Order to set Audigy as Prefered Recording Device, and another in Device Properties --> Wave In, to set ASIO enabled as a recording source.
Good Luck!!!.

Ok, I got it to work.

Recording straight to audition is a hugh time saver as well. In fact, I think it is my new meathod of choice.

Thanks again for all your help.

Hope anyone competent is still reading this thread. It was bothering me all the time but I thought it's only a mixup. Lately I did some testing and my suspicion became less of a suspicion and more of a conviction. Where's the problem?! At creating single wav surround file by this method you don't get a LFE channel but BACK CENTER instead. I'm pretty sure it's not a mixup since the frequency range of this back center channel is way beyond any LFE channel range or subwoofer range. On top of that if I split this single surround channel into mono files I get:
-left
-right
-center
-left surround
-right surround
-BACK CENTER channels.

Any idea how to "straightforwardly" create LFE channel insted of back center channel within single surround wav file by this method?

you can create the LFE channel summing Left & Right channels.
yes, full range!
the low pass filter inside your LFE amplifier do the job for 'you' and will be one very good job!
this is the answer from no competent reader(:D) but work very well.
don't do questionables doubts, first do tests and hear, your ears will convince you.

I was aware of the method you are mentioning but my goal was to create true LFE channel regarding the frequency range. There are different methods for that, all of them workarounds and time consuming. I was looking for a simple straightforward approach and I thought Neo6 could/should do it. Thx for reminding me that there are low pass filters in my home theatre system.
