So in this brand new generation of HD movies, there's a lot of leeway with specifications. Bit rates, resolution, codec, audio codec, etc. It also seems like the first generation of HD-DVDs are, well...not so hot. I think we need a system to specify different HD titles as they come out. Nothing fancy just some sort of searchable index of HD movies with a few categories like resolution, codecs, bitrate, etc. It seems that there's going to be an HD money-grab where old movieswith decent DVD masters are going to be simply re-coded at higher resolution, lower bits/pixel rate. (end result, hd-dvd transfer looks no better than the dvd transfer).
