xvid with menu's ?

hi all, i had a look around but i couldnt find an answer to this question... im doubtful if its possible at all, but here goes anyway.

i recently bought the mighty boosh dvd's, series 1 and 2. it comes on a total of 4 discs and for me, there is nothing more irritating that changing discs all the time to watch a different episode or extra or whatever...

iam in the process of using autoGK to convert everything to XVID and plan to put them all onto 1 DVD.

my question is, is it possible to create a custom menu for my XVID DVD, so that when i play the disc in my standalone XVID player it boots to a mighty boosh menu, with buttons to select episode ?

If your player has DivX ultra certification (think that is the one) and you use .divx as a container, then yes. Otherwise, no.

If all you want to do is select episodes though, the player's file browser should be fine, unless it is a crappy one that is limited to say 8 characters. Still that is enough for Ep01.avi, Ep02.avi, etc.

well the players file browser does the job perfectly, but it looks kinda ugly and only displays filenames which you can select with the remote...

id like to bypass the players file browser altogether and boot straight to a custom made menu, (as a normal dvd would) with a mighty boosh "theme" and a file selection.

how would i go about it if my player has divx ultra certification ?

I doubt your player supports divx menus though. Not even sure if there are any Ultra certified players in the market, there are however I believe certified chipsets. Think I even read that SunPlus get certification, this despite the fact that they can't even make a DivX enabled chipset that plays DVD's reliably.

its a fairly bog standard dvix player so i doubt its possible then, but it answers my question that its not a common or easy thing to be able to do, so thanks.
