I receive this message "avisource: couldn't locate a decompressor for fourcc x264" when I try to open a 500Mb AVI using this line.
AviSource("D:\DVD\000-AWAITINGconversion\Rd 2 Adelaide Vs West Coast 2nd Half\Rd 2 Adelaide Vs West Coast 2nd Half.avi", audio=false)
AVIcodec tells me the FourCC=H264.
AVI FourCC Code Changer tells me FourCC=H264 and FourCC Description=x264.

I've re-installed the latest FFDSHOW (and XVID too, just for fun), but it still does the same thing. Funny thing is DirectShowSource works, as does the .AVI file in M$ Media Player.

Anyone know what's happening ? Also, any drawbacks to using DirectShowSource vs AVISource (even a link) ?

Cheers, I'll try that (check VFW settings for FFDSHOW, use Vdub to del the start drop frames and save via direct stream copy) ! Per http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=811313#post811313
