I have big trouble with some DVD. Encoding look so terible. I use x264 but with XviD is same thing maybe little whrose.
Screenshot of one original frame:

Vob Segment:

Encoded segment:
http://www.mytempdir.com/590291
Script used:
DGDecode_mpeg2source("PadURaj.d2v",info=3)
ColorMatrix(hints=true)
crop( 4, 14, -4, -16)
LanczosResize(640,352)
Encoder Settings:
x264.exe --pass 2 --bitrate 970 --stats ".stats" --ref 5 --mixed-refs --no-fast-pskip --bframes 3 --b-pyramid --b-rdo --bime --weightb --subme 6 --trellis 1 --analyse all --8x8dct --direct auto --me umh --progress --no-psnr --output "PadURaj.mkv" "PadURaj.avs"
So why you suggest for denoisers and other things

The best noise reduction filter for me is Convolution 3d filter.

When you open the avisynth file in a media player, does it have good quality?
shon3i
13th April 2006, 11:09
@MrTroy Quality is ok but noise is present. is not always a big noise.
@Serbianboss I tried with Convolution3D but i am not happy with results i tried "MovieHQ" and "MovieLQ" but is not good. Did you have other settings for Convolution3D

try this parametar (1, 32, 128, 16, 64, 10, 0)
This is most agressive parametar and is very good.

You might want to give FFT3DFilter (http://avisynth.org.ru/fft3dfilter/fft3dfilter.html) a try. You could check it's thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=85790) for some ideas on usage for different sources.

@Serbianboss I Tryed but is not help, i get whery blur picture and noise on it
@DarkNite I tryed FFT but is very slow denoiser, so if you have some example please show me.
Aslo i try PixieDust(5) whit combination of LimitedSharpen i get good results but if i can get little on speed i can encode movie. I can reach 1.0fps. Thanks

First picture is your source, second is with Convolution 3d with agressive parametars.

Second picture is little blury but there is not noise.

If you want quality and dont care about speed, use FFT3D or FRFun!

Just -> My PC: C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\frfun3.dll
But I can send you a copy if you want... ^^

@Soulhunter Can you send me frfun3.dll or host it on www.mytempdir.com. And can you post avs script which you use for both FRFun and FFT3D thanks, and did you use LimitedSharpen. And what you suggest if speed important to me. Thanks
@Serbianboss Maybe this frame don't have noise but whole scene have. Picture is so blurness

Thanks

What type of algorithm is frfun applying?
I'll be interested for a copy as well :P

you can even try this, is fast and does not take away many details from the video.
Removegrain(mode=2)
STMedianfilter(3,3,1,1)

If you have a video card that supports DirectX 9 then there's also FFT3DGPU (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=89941) if you're concerned about speed.

14th April 2006, 18:27
try this
mdata = DePanEstimate()
DePanInterleave(data=mdata)
degrainmedian(mode=1)
SelectEvery(3, 1)
it's fast and good

Soulhunter, would you please send me an FRFun plugin or host it somewhere ? My mailbox is leo.69.is@gmail.com
It looks like it has better processing algorithm than FFT3D.
Please, post the settings as well.
Thank you :)

I agree with you, so Soulhunter please share with us FRFun. Please
@DarkNite Yes my video card support DirectX 9 and i try tomorow becouse now i start encoding with normal FFT3D and encoding will be finished tomorow, i am now open this enocding with bsplayer and looks very clean and good, so maybe is FFT3D my answer but if that FFT3DGPU faster this can be cool
@techmule I try this tomorow but i try STMedianFilter with default settings and i not be happy with encoding. Thanks anyway
@Mr. Brown Looks like a god script, I will try and post results, Thanks

Speed should be similar to FFT3D or PixieDust... But why dont you simply test it yaself!? Takes only 5 minutes or so to do a compare with 1000 frames, heh!? :sly:

Thank you for the plugin!
The explanation given with it reminds me of MarcFD's style ^^ Can you roughly say what type of denoising is involved in this plugin ? I am always interested in understanding a bit what a filter is doing :)
Also what is T ? And what do you mean by overflow ? Does it will take too much memory ?
Soulhunter

Ohw, T is the threshold, gonna update the zip... ^^;

Very roughly: Fractal denoising!
And what do you mean by overflow ? Does it will take too much memory ?
Simply try to find out... ;D

which parametars to use with frfun.
i use:
avisource("D:\CAPTURE\bmw.avi")
LoadPlugin("frfun3b.dll")
ConvertToYuY2(interlaced=true)
frfun3b(S=3,T=3)
So, which is agressive parametars?

@Serbianboss how work, it is faster than FFT3D
Serbianboss
15th April 2006, 10:20
if you use parametars 5-5 its faster. Whit parametars 3-3 its slow
Soulhunter
15th April 2006, 10:41
Well, its simple...
More subsampling = Less processing = Faster!

shon3i
15th April 2006, 10:49
Yes it is faster but i tryed settings frfun3b(S=1,T=3) and frfun3b(S=1,T=5) it is so washed out but settings like frfun3b(S=1,T=2) not do enything there is noise, looks this filter is only good for anime, So my answer is FFT3D.
@All Thanks for help i soloved the problem

It was 1fps -vs- 15fps iirc... XD

frfun is interesting filter!
It must be developed.
More info?
I assume, it is pure spatial?
Alain2
18th April 2006, 22:47
frfun3b is interesting for me on its lowest setting (1,1) on a noisy film I have ; will try on anime to see what it can do with them :) (frfun3 is too slow to be usable for me)
Soulhunter
19th April 2006, 10:07
@ Fizick
Yeah, the two versions posted here are spatial, there's also a version with temporal processing, but its very slow! Anyway, frfun was more a "proof of concept" filter, we'll probably see other filters based on it in future, lets wait n see... ^^

Soulhunter is so secretive with his/his friends' filters. =p I'd love to see the sources, or at least algorithms, when they do something significantly different. Is it mostly based on the fractal denoising/compression literature out there or have you done a lot of tweaking and research yourself?

Thats the way it is... better a filter without source than no filter at all, heh!? ;P

Update: FRFun3b rev3 with float thresholds and separate chroma param (http://www.chronocrossdev.com/~soulhunter/data/frfun3b_rev3.zip)
Btw, I think the frfun stuff should be moved/copied to a separate thread, heh!?

I'm not sure which posts to move to a new thread without spoiling this thread. Why don't you create a new one about FRFun3b?
Just curious, did you develop it yourself, or is it developed by prunedtree?

Yeah, as usually "coded by pruned" ;)
