DVD->CD audio Legality

I was having a conversation recently about a CD I created from a Music DVD. And the question came up "Is that legal?" I answer "Yes, as long as you don't sell them."

I'm just checking that it is legal to convert a DVDs Audio source to a CD for personal and private use?
