I'm a new user to NuMenu4u and I'm having problems with Numenu4u when trying to convert PAL DVDs to NTSC. It seems Scenarists fails to compile or it just crashes. I like to know if there's some guide to see what I'm doing wrong or people could give me suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong.

What error messages are being thrown?
Try the same menu without format conversion to confirm that the conversion is the problem.

With or without conversion, I get the same problem, but I managed to solve the scenarist crash thanks to another post of yours by making sure I don't use Scenarist 3.0.1. So I used 3.0 instead of 3.0.1 for Scenarist. By the way, on the Encoder menu, do I need to select "Process all video assets..." because when I select this option, the subpicture ripper seems to give error messages? (With so many options cluttering the menus, I just want to make sure I select the right option on numenu4u for converting both the menus and the video to build the VIDEO-TS folder.)

I always have this option selected and also "Parse video to confirm 16:9"

I'm wondering. For video encoding and format conversion, does NuMenu4u only encode the video menus or does it encode all the DVD video?

Menus only - the titles are taken care of with sceanid (although no format conversion option exists)

Wait a minute, if you can use plugin am MPEG-2 Encoder, and modify options for format conversion using AviSynth scripts in NUMenu4u, how is it that no format conversion option exists? You'd just reencode the video titles using the Avisynth scripts and then combine the AC3 audio back with the newly reencoded video into a VOB file and then update the IFO file. I mean, you managed to successfully do that with the video menus.

The scenarist/muxman scripts created by scenaid will be geared towards the original source format - you could manually adjust them. You would need to amend all the chapter points and subtitle start/duration times. There are several posts in this forum regarding this.

I know there's ifoedit, vobedit as well as a whole bunch of programs. Zeul, what programs do you use for updating IFO files and remuxing ac3 audio and mpeg-2 video streams into VOB files?

muxman and scenarist. I update the menu ifo files with my own app menuifoupdate.exe, otherwise batchifoupdate.

I'm not sure if menuifoupdate and batchifoupdate are doing the trick because I opened the IFO files using IfoEdit and there's no indication of NTSC or framerate changes from 25 to 29-30 fps. Is that normal because for it to be an NTSC menu, it has to indicate changes to NTSC?

The menu area of the ifo will show the new framerate - check out the vtsm_pgci_ut tables

The title area of the ifo will be as the original

I take it you have looked at the help file
